Battery life is the kind you don’t want to end. As technologies improve, more features and applications drain the batteries of gadget faster. That’ why there are softwares and platform improvements that aim to extend the power or at least give extra juice for a few minutes or so. Most mobile users nowadays depend on bringing power banks and special phone cases that offer extra juice.

If you are more prepared, you can just bring an extra battery unit if it’s still removable or you can just simply charge your phone by plugging it to an electrical outlet. Meanwhile, here’s another charging solution: AnkerBox. It’s a new product that requires a phone owner to download a particular app. This app can then be used to rent a charger and then return it after use. The idea is charger-sharing which can be likened to bike-sharing or ride-sharing.

Ankerbox is a portable mobile charger rental service. It will launch in Seattle two weeks from today in April 15. About 200 different establishments from restaurants to bars to gyms will have AnkerBox stations all over the ity. Battery packs are 6,700 mAh capacity with PowerIQ tech so your smartphone can be juiced up in no time. You may only need about 30 minutes to get your phone running.

If you really need to go and rush to your next meeting or destination, you can take the battery pack with you. Just pay $1.99 for each day that you haven’t returned the charger. Go to any AnkerBox charging station again and return the device. If you lose it, pay $30. Pay the same amount if you want to keep it for yourself.

The company behind AnkerBox plans to bring the program outside of Seattle. Hopefully, the service will soon launch in Los Angeles and New York. Anker is just a startup that takes advantage of the shared service business model. AnkerBox stations are offered free but a rental fee is required if you want to borrow the charger for a while. The group is also thinking of offering revenue shares and incentives to merchants that will display the charging stations.
