Elephone is venturing into the smartwatch arena. Less than a month ago, some images of the ELE Watch were leaked. Not much information were presented to us but the wearable looks stylish and could very well rival the round smartwatches recently introduced in the market.

No official launch or announcement has been made yet but a product page was recently published by GearBest. The Chinese online retailer has listed a new smartwatch with an ‘Arrival Notice’ note. It’s one attention-grabber because of the $115 price tag which is the lowest we know so far among the round wearables we’ve featured. We all know how smartwatches can be pricey today so a model that affordable has a potential to become a bestseller.

A list of specs was even provided on the page. There’s a mention of ELEPHONE as the brand. Specs include a built-in MTK2601 chip from Mediatek, 4GB built-in storage, 512MB RAM, 1.5-inch TFT screen with 320 x 320 pixel resolution, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, and a 400 mAh battery. Case and watch band are made of metal.

Smartwatch is compatible with Android Wear OS. Just like most watches today, the ELE Watch is dust- and waterproof as indicated by its IP67 rating. Wearable device can last up to 80 hours on a single charge which is about up to three full days.

The ELE Watch also allows Bluetooth calling so you can accept incoming calls right from your wrist. It features a heart rate monitor and remote control for music playback. So far, it looks like and functions like any other smartwatch we’ve seen and tried. The metal band can be swapped with other wrist band materials but we don’t know the exact band size yet.

The 512MB RAM and 4GB built-in storage is standard in current smartwatches. Languages available include English, German, Thai, Malay, Italian, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Arabic, Spanish, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Portuguese, and Turkish.

The ELE Watch may not have the more advanced specs and features but for its price, this Android watch is good enough for those who just want the basic smartwatch functions like notifications, Bluetooth calling, and heart rate tracking. This reminds us of the newest Asus ZenWatch that is priced at $150—another smartwatch that can become a bestseller and ready to rival the more expensive models like Moto 360, LG Watch Urbane, and Huawei Watch.

We’ll wait for ELEPHONE to make the official announcement. We have our eyes on this one.
