Android Wear android app

Since Google is releasing the latest Android Wear version, it is expected that the official Android Wear app for Android will also be updated. We already know how the platform upgrade will impact Moto 360 and the Sony Smartwatch 3: WiFi support, hands free gestures, drawing and translation of emojis and phone free usage among others.

Google was quick to update the app in preparation for the public release of the new Android Wear. Obviously, the app supports the latest features added by Google to the wearable platform. The updated app now shows a prompt when you open it: ‘Connect your watch to Wi-Fi with Wear Cloud Sync’. App also now allows Google Fit to store and use sensor data as needed.

Some changes on the visuals can be seen. Think Material Design. A ‘Tips’ card has been added to show more information and tips about your not-so-new smartwatch. There’s also a card that shows several Android Wear apps you can download.

You might see some changes in the calendar settings too. You can now choose which calendar to display from your accounts plus some sub-menu. Google Play services have been updated as well plus the standard security updates and bug fixes can be expected. Other smartwatches can receive improved drivers too.
