Chevrolet has announced that users of Android smartphone can now get free apps that will link them to their vehicles. The app has some cool features that many drivers will be able to take advantage of. The main features of the app fall into three categories including location-based services, vehicle-specific information, and OnStar connectivity.

The location-based service might be the most useful to the forgetful drivers. The service lets the driver save the location of their car to a GPS map and to set a timer to keep them informed of how much time they have left on a parking meter. They can even take a photo of their parking location. The app can also be used to summon roadside assistance for flat tires.

The vehicle specific information includes things like common data from the owner’s manual for saving radio presets and information on service indicators and warning lights. The OnStar MyLink integration is also cool allowing owners to send remote start commands, lock or unlock doors, and start the engine. The app can also track the fuel in the vehicle along with driving range, oil life, and tire pressures.
