After more than two weeks of turning off the Marshmallow OTA update for the original SHIELD Tablet, NVIDIA is releasing an another version of the software update. If you may remember, some errors were encountered by a few users who downloaded the update earlier. Access to internal storage was found to be locked. Others have experienced issues on Wi-Fi connectivity on the original SHIELD and the SHIELD tablet K1.

NVIDIA suspended the release of the OTA and tested the software. We’re not sure if NVIDIA worked on the suggestion of some owners but the company is confident they have already corrected the problem according to customer care representative Peter when he announced the good news.

Finally, the update is ready once again. With the latest Android Marshmallow update, expect to see the following: Now On Tap, Doze Mode, new app permissions, and better battery life. There’s also a new camera app with Material Design elements and enhanced WiFi connectivity as promised.

The OTA’s are back online but if you are still seeing and experiencing issues, feel free to contact NVIDIA’s customer care team at www.nvidia.com/nvcc. You should be receiving alerts and OTA notifications any time soon on your original NVIDIA SHIELD tablet or SHIELD tablet K1.
