Samsung seems to be taking its own sweet time in releasing Android 5.0 software to its devices – but at least it didn’t tie itself down to a 90-day time frame like some OEMs we know (we kid, HTC). The South Korean manufacturer is in the process of rolling out Lollipop to its devices, but it has been very slow indeed. The Samsung Galaxy S5 at least has Lollipop in some markets around the globe, including US consumers under Verizon. No Lollipop sweetness yet for the quirky Galaxy Note Edge, but if you’re really desperate to try, there is a leaked beta build available in flashable ROM format.

The beta Lollipop build for the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge has been uploaded by the good people at XDA, complete with your regular instructions and warnings. The ROM is based on Android 5.0.1, and it is indeed an official pre-release build with TouchWiz embedded. Since it is an official build – albeit not for public consumption – flashing the ROM won’t void warranty or trip the Knox counter.

The build is only compatible for the SM-N915FY and SM-N915F versions of the Galaxy Note Edge, so if yours isn’t one of these, then tough luck. Keep in mind that this is a beta build, there might not be major issues, but there might be several issues that still need fixing.

We again highlight that this is only for the adventurous types who know they are proceeding at their own risk. The build is at least stable, so no major glitches. Be sure to back up your data before flashing the ROM. Check out the source link for the official XDA thread, where the instructions for flashing the Lollipop ROM are spelled out.

    • Have you noticed RAM usage decrease since updating? Just curious because with all apps closed I still have RAM usage around 2.0 to 2.2 GB on KitKat.
