Before we get started what we have here are screenshots of Android 2.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, or at least the launcher running on a phone. This is an unofficial launcher of Android 2.4 Ice Cream Sandwich made by a few awesome developers over at XDA and we have some pictures for you and a video.

We are still looking for any details as to what all this contains but from what we are hearing and seeing this is a 3rd party launcher made from previous leaked screenshots, as well as rumors of what Android 2.4 Ice Cream Sandwich will contain. What these smart developers have done is copied the images from the leaked ICS screenshots and added some settings and options based on a few rumors and developed a pretty awesome and real looking home replacement launcher for Android based on ICS.

I’ve quickly installed this to my phone and so far it looks awesome, this is only currently an alpha build and they have some work to do, but so far I love it. Screen animations while scrolling needs some improvement but other than that this is quite impressive. Hitting the multi-tasking button doesn’t bring up actual previously launched apps like Honeycomb, rather a populated list. That and the settings button doesn’t work.

  1. ,.. awesomee ..
I just got a $827.89 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HTV for only $251.92, they are both coming tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prîces at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for.

  2. where is this rumor that states that ice cream sandwich would be android version 2.4……..that doesnt even make sence because honeycomb is 3.0(.1,.2). so the conventional wisdom is that it will be 4.0 as ice cream Sandwich. If im wrong and totally missed something i appoligize.

      • The Tablet OS and the Phone OS are merging. You will get one Android OS. That OS is Ice Cream Sandwich.  By your logic there would be two Operating Systems named Ice Cream Sandwich, One numbered 2.4 and one numbered 4.0.  This doesn’t work and contradicts efforts by Google to reduce the multiple OS versions. Ice Cream Sandwich is one OS which will be able to run on all devices. To unify efforts of development and reduce fragmentation.  Your scenario would have two different OS’s with the same name.  That would be insanity on the level of Microsoft Marketing.

  3. Unlike holding down on the app drawer to bring up useless screenshots, now if you hold the menu button it brings a useful version reminiscent of HTC Sense. Sometimes. Okay rarely. Once I started to add widgets it began to fc more often.

  4. we can expect the upcoming Android tablets to be adorned with compatible applications that can be operated on both Smartphones and  Tablet as well. http://tablettechtoday.com/blogposts/google-ponders-over-introducing-common-apps-for-tablets-and-smartphones.html this article says that Android will not have to design applications separately which will prove to be beneficial for them
