Amazon.com sells just about everything from mobile phones to blenders and books. There is very little that you can’t find on Amazon if you are looking to buy. Several popular smartphones on the market also have their own Amazon apps to make shopping easier.

Amazon has now announced that it is offering an Amazon app for Android devices that is available for download at no cost. The cool app lets users take pictures of things like CDs or DVDs or barcodes and get matching products from the Amazon catalog.

This makes it dead simple to answer that old “I wonder how much this is online” question. Other features of the app include Wish List, recommended products, and support for 1-click purchase. The app is available on the Android Market now.

  1. I got this app like 2 days ago and seems like a pretty solid app

I LOVE AMAZON i like it way better than ebay
  2. This really is a well put together app. Great UI, and very responsive.
  3. I saw this app a few days ago, tried it, it's alright (the UI is great, I'm just not a huge amazon fan), I still like ebay better lol amazon is ok for some things, but not for school books, that's for sure
  4. This is great, I was just looking for this type of App. last week and now it is here!
  5. Correction: "The app is available on the Android Market now." should be "As ever, the app is available on the Android Market now, but only if you live in the US."

bugger...explains why I could not find it...live in the UK!
  7. Wanna know what I'd really like to see from Amazon, for Android? More than just shopping software?

The mobile Kindle e-reader software they made for the iPhone.

    Give me THAT, for Android.

My eyes already hurt from imagining reading small text on a small device with a glowing backlight.

I'll take the eReader itself any day...
  9. Unfortunately you have to log into your Amazon account to use it. I am not a fan of profiling, so I removed the app. I want to compare prices and get reviews, not have them tracking my shopping habits.
