Samsung Galaxy S III owners on AT&T have been waiting for a certain piece of news to drop. What might that news be? Android 4.1 is finally ready to be downloaded on Galaxy S III for AT&T customers. Owners of the device have been patiently waiting, and now, the wait is finally over.

This update is kind of different from most Android updates in that it is not available over the air. Instead, all users looking to get the the new features of Android 4.1 on their devices will have to download it though Samsung Kies on Windows or Mac. Presumably, it is not being issued over the air because this update is much larger than that of a typical Android update.

Samsung reminds users that you may see some delay while update with Kies depending on network speeds. Once the update is downloaded, simply install it to your device and within a few minutes, you will be able to use all the new features of Jelly Bean on your AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III. As always, you should back up your Android device before installing an update. There is always the possibility of data being lost during an update.

With Android 4.1, users will get access to Google Now, Project Butter, and all kinds of other awesome new features. It’s an update that truly takes Android to another level, and finally, Galaxy S III owners on AT&T’s network can enjoy those awesome new features.

  1. Yeah I updated via kies…totally bricked my GS3. After the update my phone would not stop rebooting! I had to take it to AT&T and have it reflashed with the stock rom. C’mon Samsung/At&T not acceptable!!!!!
