We have more good news today for all those owners of the DROID RAZR and RAZR MAXX. After the entire mix up last week about its rumored Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update today we can now confirm the ICS upgrade is rolling out to testers in Motorola’s Feedback Network. If all goes well we could see this update available for everyone within the next week.

Motorola last week stated the update was “coming soon” in a slew of text messages sent out to RAZR owners, and now the folks from Droid-Life are reporting the update is in final beta testing. Motorola’s latest Android 4.0 ICS build version 6.16.211 has arrived for feedback members RAZR phones, and has even been made available to download if you dare give it a try.

The DROID RAZR is an extremely popular device, and now that Motorola has the RAZR HD on the way with ICS many users are getting impatient while waiting for the update. This latest leak and beta update arriving for beta testing confirms that Motorola is getting close and an update is headed our way soon. If everything goes smooth and Verizon gives the update the OK we could be seeing the official Android 4.0 ICS OTA arrive this weekend or early next week. We don’t have too many details about this latest build, but most likely its close to final and extremely stable. More details at the source.

  1. I just checked with Motorola live chat, specifically asking if Motorola was soak testing ICS for the DROID RAZR. Response was “No, not at this time, and there is no specific date set for the soak test.”

    • Like I said …right hand has no idea what the left hand does. Same with verizon. One department does something that other departments have no idea about. Last week got the text message about the IM not being compatible with ICS then Vzw denied sending the txts. And CS ppl tell you ” no date set for…..” just because they can’t say ” I have no idea what you are talking about. What is a soak test”

      • There’s no getting through to some people. I’d suggest not even bothering to respond to those who “don’t believe it.” They probably should have taken the initiative to register their device with Motorola and sign up for the Feedback Network – then they would’ve gotten the email letting them know the soak test will begin shortly.

I understand there’s been a lot of false reports, so some may be hesitant to believe it. To be honest, it’s pretty sad we’re even having this discussion, as if an OS upgrade is going to make a huge difference in our lives and the lives of our overly expensive cellphones and their accompanying data plans. It’s disgusting to be frank.

  2. Can’t believe anything anymore lol.. Amazes me how many false reports surface! Just about heard and seen it all now!

  3. These have been going on since April. They get pulled off the server and made available on Droid sites. I have run 3 different versions of these. I am currently on build .210 This doesn’t mean its coming soon. Once SOAK TESTS have started, then it won’t be far off.

  4. The phone is rooted I can tell just by looking at this, Thanks for trying to start another rumor of when ICS will be here though.

    • Exactly, how can you tell it is rooted? Magic eyes? Lemme guess… going to come back and tell me how stupid I am not being able to tell, and not reveal how you know? Idiot.

      • That screenshot is the POST installation screenshot. The system version is supposed to be .211 after the install.
You would be looking for .181 in the Left screenshot. But you can’t see that.

  5. Blah Blah Blah……………………….I will believe it when I see it on my Razr. before that its just Moto lies and Verizon propaganda…….
We were told back when the Razr came out in way back in November …6weeks for ICS
and china is getting all the newest and best phones. with ICS. WTF moto????????

  7. If this is all true then Motorola would at least put testing on their forums about the update schedule. But that is not the case its still in development stage. So nobody should even begin getting their hopes up. Just cause people know how to hack and install a leak doesn’t mean its being tested because its not.

    • Well this is completely, and embarrassingly incorrect and unintelligent “big rob.” The ENTIRE reason people got ahold of the .211 update was because it was put up on Motorola’s servers for testing (internal). Emails went out to members of the Motorola Feedback Network, so the soak test will be starting shortly (external)…how thick is your skull?
