We’re hearing from Android Community readers that the Android 2.2 Froyo update for the Motorola DROID has gone live, with OTA upgrades for the Verizon Wireless smartphone being offered across the US.

The update brings with it speed and stability improvements, though we’re yet to confirm whether Verizon have stripped out Froyo’s wireless hotspot feature as is so useful on the Nexus One.  Anybody with the update care to fill us in?
