This week we posted the email that sent out to potential developers that contained the developer terms and conditions as well as their pricing structure for royalty fees. Well, good news for developers, this $99 fee has been waived.

In another email sent to developers this week Amazon is waiving the first year of charges as a “token of their appreciation” towards developers joining in. As of now we are not sure if this is a special limited time offer for early sign ups, or if this means there will be no development fees for all first years pushing the Amazon App Store into competitive mode with the Android Market.

We are pleased you joined the Amazon App Store program and as a token of our appreciation, you will not be required to pay the $99 program fee for your first year of participation in Amazon’s App Store program. Program fees for subsequent years will be due on the anniversary of the date you accepted the App Store Distribution Agreement.
