Amazon launched the Mayday Button as another way for the company to offer tech support. The Mayday Button was launched eight months back and as of today, Amazon has returned with some bragging points. The company has said the average response time is less than 10 seconds.

Specifically, it was said the average time a customer has to wait (after they press the Mayday Button) is 9.75 seconds. For reference, Amazon has a response time goal of 15-seconds or less. Perhaps equally as nice for Amazon, they have also dubbed the Mayday Button as the “most popular way for customers to ask questions.”

Customers with a Kindle Fire HDX can use the Mayday Button for service at anytime. Amazon touts this as a service that is free and available 24/7 and 365 days a year. Users simply have to tap the button, which can be found in the Quick Settings. From that point the user will be greeted by an Amazon support rep who is able handle the issue for you, or walk you through the process of doing it yourself.

And while we tend to think of tech support requests as being something specific to the device — Amazon appears to be a bit more open in terms of what they are willing to do. This same press release includes a list of “unusual Mayday anecdotes” which include everything from helping a customer get passed a specific level of Angry Birds, to singing happy birthday to a customer that was receiving a Kindle Fire from their boyfriend.
