Most of us probably look for gadgets with the best specs since spending a supposedly huge amount of money on a smartphone or tablet is no laughing matter. But there are also times when you don’t need something with the highest processor or RAM or storage, but just something basic that will run the usual apps and perform the most common processes that a gadget can do. If that’s what you’re looking for and you’re a T-Mobile customer, then you might want to check out the Alcatel OneTouch Pop 7 LTE tablet, now available on the carrier.

This will probably not win any benchmarking awards, but if what you’re looking for is a first tablet for a child or a secondary gadget to do some basic things (word processing, watching not so hi-res videos, etc), then this tablet may be something you can consider. The 7-inch tablet has a 1024 x 600 resolution and is powered by a quad-core 1.1GHz processor. It has a 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded to 32GB through a microSD card.

The tablet has a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing one, so you probably shouldn’t use it to try and take good-looking pictures. It does have a 3240 mAh internal battery and 4G LTE and WiFI connectivity, so you can use it for a pretty good amount of time to just browse the web, read your email, etc.

If you get a qualified T-Mobile data plan, you don’t have to pay anything upfront and you only have to shell out $5.24 per month for the next 24 months, plus you need to get a $20 SIM starter kit. You can also get it at its full retail price of $129.99.
