Because a lot of photographers and graphic artists are also using mobile for work and for pleasure, Adobe is working very hard to emulate what you can do on the Adobe Photoshop Lightroom desktop version and mirror it on the smartphone and tablet version. It still has a long way to go, at least on the Android version (iOS is getting some good updates on this aspect), but the latest update actually brings some pretty good improvements for the in-app camera and other things.

The Android version has a distinct advantage over its iOS counterpart when it comes to the in-app camera as it can capture images in the DNG raw format. Now for version 2.1 of Lightroom, you will be able to further improve the way you take your photos as you will be able to manually adjust things like shutter speed, ISO sensitivity, white balance and focus. It’s like having a mini SLR on your smartphone but with a more “modern mobile capture experience.”

As for the photo editing features of the app, the update brings improved full resolution output. You will be able to export photos to their native resolution, whether they were added through the web or through the mobile app. This should result in better resolution pictures, even after you’ve tweaked and edited them.

The update of course also brings the usual bug fixes and improvements. Check the app’s Google Play page to see if it has rolled out to you already so you can play more with taking pictures and editing them.
