Adidas has been quite silent lately in the field of exercise tracking devices and software, with some of the spotlight focused on other fitness brands like Fitbit. It seems that Adidas isn’t ready to let its competitors get the last laugh as a new miCoach device was seen heading to the FCC in preparation for a release very soon.

Called the miCoach X_Cell, the device sports the iconic black and green theme used in other miCoach products, with a green X overlaid on the the device’s black body and the Adidas logo smack in the middle. The X_Cell is pretty small, measuring only 7 cm by 4 cm, making it comfortable to wear either through a clip or a strap.

The miCoach X_Cell, like other similar devices, is meant to collect information regarding your exercise such as speed and duration, as well as monitor body stats like heart rate and temperature. Additionally, the X_Cell will also be able to measure the amount of force being used like in jumping, making it useful in sports training as well.

There are no other details about the miCoach X_Cell other than it will connect over Bluetooth to send the data to an app. At the moment, only an iOS app was confirmed, but considering Adidas is actively maintaining an Android app for miCoach, the X_Cell could be supported as well in a future update.
