Remix OS 1.5 now ready for Jide, Nexus 10 tablets

We know Remix OS to run on Jide Remix tablets but last April, the company decided to bring the custom mobile OS to Nexus 10 and Nexus 9 tablets as well. The newly announced Remix Mini will also run Remix OS when the Android PC is ready later this year. If you're not yet familiar with the custom version, Remix OS shows off a customized home screen, notification ares, and a taskbar. It also features multiple app support so more apps can run in windows among others.

Lollipop-based Amazon Fire OS 5 launched in developer preview

In terms of hardware, Amazon’s set of Android devices can actually compete, but they lag behind competitors primarily because of their approach to the software area of the devices. They use the heavily tweaked and proprietary Fire OS, a version of Android that does not allow for Google Play Store access. The software has continued to languish in KitKat land, but users should be relatively happy Amazon is now rolling out the Fire OS 5, albeit in a developer preview for now.

Jide brings Remix OS custom ROM to Nexus 10, Nexus 9 tablets

The last news we heard about Jide was back in January when it rolled out the 11.6-inch Remix Ultra Tablet. The mobile device is no different from any other Android-powered tablet but what's interesting is the custom version Remix OS. This particular platform provides support to run many apps on phone or full-screen modes. In phone mode, you can fit numerous apps on the screen.

Android 5.0.2 for Galaxy S6 edge ready soon for download

The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge has finally arrived. After all the stress tests and numerous drop tests, Samsung has proven that the Galaxy S6 edge is one durable smartphone. We're expecting more good news to come the S6 edge's way including the latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop which we previewed last February both the smartphone and the Galaxy Tab S version. The sweet Lollipop update to the dual-edged flagship phone includes minor updates to the manufacturer's proprietary apps like the S Planner, photo editor, and the TouchWiz ecosystem.

For those of you who are still using your venerable Nexus 7 – be it the 2012 3G only version or the more recent 2013 LTE version – this is probably good news for you. Google has released Android 5.0.2 Lollipop images for your devices – this is no joke. The mothership has finally decided that it’s probably time to bring you up to speed as you’ve been languishing in KitKat loneliness all this time.

Android 5.0.2 images arrive for 2013 Nexus 7 (WiFi), Nexus 10

Following last month's factory image release, Google is now bringing Android 5.0.2 to the rest of its older Nexus tablets. The maintenance update, which first appeared for the 2012 Nexus 7, is now available for the 2013 model, only for its WiFi variant, and the Nexus 10. And as before, there is no official changelog or announcement on what has been fixed in this silent Android release. Amusingly, the more recent Nexus 9 seems to have been left out, at least for now.

Udacity app offers programming courses for Android development

Tech learning app Udacity has finally made its way into the Android platform and it brought with it several modules that are specifically targeted for Android developers. There are four learning programs that you can access through the app, but these are not just courses taught by random experts in the field, but rather actual people from Google themselves, people who had a close hand or knowledge in developing the platform.
