Ubuntu Touch stable builds coming by the end of May
Ubuntu Touch on Android has been a slow but steady mystery. Canonical currently offers plenty of pre-release beta or even alpha builds of their software for Android devices like the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7, and others. However, today Canonical's own Rick Spencer promises to have stable "daily-driver" builds of Ubuntu Touch for smartphones by the end of the month.

Here with the AT&T version of the HTC One, we've got 4G LTE connectivity and a device build that's essentially identical to the original international edition of the device. What's changed is the radio inside and the software build - but only ever so slightly. Verizon, after a rather long wait, began updating the Galaxy Nexus to Android 4.2.2 last week. And as one would expect as a follow-up to that, the official factory image has since been posted on the Google Developers page. Basically, this should be good news for those who like to jump from ROM to ROM as this image will provide a simple and easy way to get back to your stock setup.

Verizon Wireless is finally rolling out the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update to its Samsung Galaxy Nexus devices. The update is long overdue, especially since owners of the GSM version of the device received the update last month. Many people purchase Nexus devices because they want to receive the latest Android OS updates as quickly as possible (alongside the great specs and affordable price points).

Today we can chalk up another win for Google from the patent department. According to reports the US Patent and Trademark Office has just granted Google the patent for facial recognition in Android. The impressive feature arrived with the Galaxy Nexus and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and today they now have a few full patents on the security option.

Last week reports surfaced from Verizon's official Twitter account that an update for the Galaxy Nexus was in the works and coming soon. Like many of you, we were extremely skeptical considering the device is four updates behind the rest of the Nexus family. Today though, it looks to be real as the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus has apparently begun rolling out to beta testers.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus over on Verizon Wireless hasn't been getting the attention it deserves. The smartphone is actually four updates behind the other Nexus devices, but that could soon be changing if recent tweets by Verizon are to be believed. Don't get your hopes up but a recent discussion has them saying an update for the LTE Nexus is coming soon.
