WindowsAndroid puts Android on your Windows machine without emulation

If you've encountered an Android app you wanted to have on your PC, then we've got some encouraging news for you. The folks over at Socketeq have released a piece of software they're appropriately calling WindowsAndroid. The biggest draw of WindowsAndroid is that it runs Android natively on your Windows machine, meaning that there's no need for emulation.

The second of a growing crop of massive smartphones is now available to purchase where you live! As long as you live in South Korea. The LG Optimus Vu and its odly square screen hits the homeland today, where eager Android fans can pick it up for a song and 999,900 won, or about nine hundred American greenbacks. Even for a country that loves its smartphones and loves home-grown LG, that's a stagerringly expensive price, novel form factor notwithstanding.

Motorola Droid 2 Gingerbread Update Now Available

Hey folks, those of you with the Motorola Droid 2 can now go ahead and get updated to the latest and greatest, Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Available right now the update should be hitting handsets any time now. While it has leaked in the past this is the real deal right from Motorola.

Droid 2 Update to Gingerbread Coming After Droid 3 Launches

All you Droid 2 owners around that have been patiently waiting for the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update might be sad to hear this but you might be waiting just a little longer. A leaked document floating around states that the Droid 2 Global wont get Gingerbread til after the Droid 3 launches. It is safe to say the regular Droid 2 is probably in the same boat but we could be wrong.

Motorola Droid 2 Getting CM7 Officially, Nightlys Coming Soon

For a long while Motorola phones like the Droid2 and the Droid X were locked down pretty tight and unable to enjoy the wonderful things in Android like CM7. Recent breakthroughs have allowed CM7 to boot successfully on the Droid X and the latest news is the same magic will be going down for the Droid 2 and it will be officially merged into CyanogenMod soon.

Amazon Deals: Free Droid 2 Multimedia Dock with Purchase of Car Dock

I don't know about you guys but from what I have seen Motorola makes some of the better car docks and multimedia docks for our Android phones. My brother loves his Droid X dock and uses it daily mounted nicely on the dash of his Xterra. If you have been trying to decide on if you want the car dock, or the multimedia dock now is your chance to get both. Amazon is offering the DROID2 multimedia station FREE with the purchase of the car dock.

Huawei Ascend update to Android 2.2 Available Now, Use Caution

Today Metro PCS announced the Huawei Ascend upgrade to Android 2.2 is now available. The Ascend launched back in December and even though this is only for Android 2.2 at least it is seeing the update faster than many other phones in the past. There is no talk regarding Gingerbread for now but an update is an update right.

Welcome back to Android Community Weekly! Early this past Monday, details of the HTC Holiday headed for AT&T emerged. Much like the EVO 3D, it is said to sport a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor as well as a qHD display (and just like the Samsung Infuse, it is said to span 4.5”). Also launched this week was AppTap Ads to aid in advertising applications for developers. It will give users an easy to use ad buying tool to track their targeted ads across the net.

Motorola Droid X 2.3 Gingerbread OTA starting Friday

Looks like we have just got the final word that the Motorola Droid X will be getting Android 2.3 Gingerbread starting this Friday. We have mentioned this a few times over the last few weeks, even yesterday we mentioned a slew of Verizon Droid devices getting 2.3 soon. Apparently the 2.3 update was approved back at the first of May, but better late than never right.

DROID X, DROID Pro, DROID2 and Global Gingerbread Update Imminent Says Motorola

Oh you Motorola employees, what you wont say these days. A cool employee over at the Motorola Mobility forums let slip (or was allowed to slip) the fact that an update to Gingerbread was coming soon on essentially ever Droid ever: DROID X, DROID Pro, DROID2 and Global, and that this update will improve Exchange Activesync functionality. This is fabulous news for all Droid folks for more than one reason, obviously, but the Activesync issue being fixed is like some frosting on an already delicious cookie.
