The Google Play Newsstand may not be the news source of choice for some Android users, but having it available as an option is always a good thing. And not all countries have the version where you can buy digital newspapers and magazines, so it’s always news whenever Google adds more countries to their list. This time around, it’s 8 countries in the Middle East who will now be getting the paid Newsstand available in their territories.

If you live in Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, then now you will be able to buy digital content available in the Google Play Newsstand, like Wired Magazine, Popular Mechanics, ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar, etc. Some of the publishers offer free content, while some sell theirs per issue and some on a subscription basis to give users a package discount.

Earlier this month, the Newsstand also had a slight update that saw the app get a cleaner and more streamlined look. The top news became the first thing you’ll see when you open the app and the bylines and publications offering their wares in the app now look cleaner in the article view. You can now also find content from your favorite sources and topics a bit easier from the Highlights section.

Of course you have the usual bug fixes and improvements, as well as better load time for the articles in the app. You can check if the update has rolled out to your account by visiting the Google Play Newsstand page.
