When Amazon launched it’s 7-inch Fire Tablet and priced it at $49.99, some people thought it was too good to be true. Sure, the specs weren’t something to sing home about, but hey, an Android device from a well-known OEM/online retailer for less than 50 dollars? That is not something to scoff at. Well now, your disbelief will be suspended further as they announced that the tablet will now retail at $39.99, although we’re not sure how long this will last.

People are pointing out that at this price, your Chinese take-out or your dog food may actually be more expensive than getting this tablet. You can buy one or more as a backup, to use as a dedicated ebook reader, or to give away as a gift to someone who doesn’t need a higher end tablet. At the end of the day, it’s not as advanced as the latest ones in the market, but if all you need are the basic things that a tablet can do, then this should be a steal.

The 7-inch Fire Tablet of course has a 7-inch IPS display and is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor. It only has 8GB of internal storage but that can be expanded to 128GB through a microSD card. It has a front facing and rear camera, but you probably won’t be using the tablet for photography purposes. One selling point of this tablet (aside from the awesome price point) is that it gets you into Amazon’s ecosystem, like Prime Music, Prime Video, and of course Amazon Underground with its numerous free apps.

Of course you will be able to get this $39.99 price for the 7-inch Fire Tablet from Amazon itself. We’re not sure until when the 20% off deal will last so maybe you better get one (or many) as soon as possible.
