FCC proposes that text-to-911 be implemented by end of 2014

Sometimes, a 911 call is necessary, but difficult to make. It could be an uncomfortable or dangerous situation, or perhaps the reception is just too poor. In instances like those, it’s usually possible to eek out a text message, which is why the FCC is supporting text-to-911. The technology, which has been in the works for a while, may be standard by the end of the year.

US Cellular has rolled out a new, lower-priced no-contract plan option. This one sits priced at $50 per month and includes unlimited talk, text and data. Of course, as we often see with the mention of unlimited -- there is some fine print you will want to know up front. In this case, the data is unlimited, but only some of that will be at high-speed.

Moto G water-resistance put to the test

There are plenty of options for waterproof smartphones these days. Sony has quite a few handsets available, including the recently released (with T-Mobile) Xperia Z1S.
