PSA: Unlocking your phone is illegal starting today

In case you haven't heard, starting today it will be illegal for users to unlock their phone. Yes a device you've actually paid for. While this has absolutely nothing to do with root, jailbreak, and tweaking phones like we all love to in the Android Community, it's still a shame. Thanks to some edits and tweaks made the the DMCA back in October it's now illegal to unlock a phone without carrier consent.

Huawei MediaPad 10 Link tablet spotted with the FCC

Huawei was showing off the MediaPad 10 Link tablet during CES, and as of today, it looks like the tablet has taken the next step towards a release. Keep in mind though, Huawei has yet to announce when that release will be happening. And as we already know, the FCC filings will never reveal that bit. Based on the filing, the MediaPad 10 Link looks like it will be arriving as a lower-end version of the MediaPad 10 FHD.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 makes an FCC appearance as the GT-N5110

Following up a series of leaked images, it looks as if the Galaxy Note 8.0 has made the required stop with the FCC. The filing shows a tablet sporting the model number of GT-5110, a number we previously saw associated with the 8-inch Note. The GT-5110 number also matches up with details that we have previously been told. For example, the GT-5110 was expected to arrive as the Wi-Fi only model and this FCC filing does indeed show a lack of cellular connectivity.
