Android Community Weekly: September 28th, 2012

Another great week here at Android Community has wrapped up. There were a lot new app releases, as well as a plethora of news from Google. On the other side of the fence, Apple is still getting a ton of grief for its new Maps app and even apologized for how awful their mapping service is. All we have to say is that it's great to be an Android user right about now.

Jetpack Joyride finally arrives on Google Play Store

After a year of waiting, the day Jetpack Joyride launches on the Google Play Store has finally arrived. Technically, Jetpack Joyride has been available on Android for a few weeks now through the Amazon App Store. Today, however, the game launched on the Google Play Store, offering its addictive gameplay to millions of Android users for the first time.

Texas Instruments not backing away from mobile entirely

A couple days back, we heard that Texas Instruments was going to move away from the smartphone and tablet markets. Many thought that the company would halt production on its OMAP 5 chipsets as it looked to break into other markets like the automotive, industrial, and robotics industries. Today Texas Instruments clarified Wednesday's reports, saying that it plans to remain a competitor in the mobile space.

Federal court gives Judge Koh jurisdiction over Galaxy Tab 10.1 sales ban

Here's a bit of good news for ol' Sammy: a US Federal circuit court of appeals has given Judge Lucy Koh jurisdiction over the Galaxy Tab 10.1 injunction that was put in place earlier this year. Before all of that courtroom drama went down between Apple and Samsung last month, Samsung was hit with a preliminary injunction against the Galaxy Tab 10.1, banning its sale in the US. That ban was put in place because it was presumed at the time that the tablet was infringing on one of Apple's design patents.

Clove shipping Motorola RAZR i on October 1

We've known about the Motorola RAZR i for a little over a week now, but today, we're finding out when the new phone will ship in the UK. Retailer Clove has announced that it will begin shipping the device on Monday, October 1. This means that those who are eager to get their hands on the device don't have too much longer to wait.

Today we're being introduced to yet another Android TV Stick, the FAVI SmartStick. If you're looking for a way to get your Android apps on your TV, there are plenty of options already, but the FAVI SmartStick comes with a couple of features that make it stand out from the crowd. Poweramp updates with better support for Jelly Bean

Poweramp has been a dominant figure in the Android music player market ever since its initial launch. Even in its beta stages, Poweramp was a great music player that had tons of unique features. It's continuing that dominance with a new update today that includes a lot of welcome changes and improvements.
