Devs Get Galaxy S II Up to Full Speed on AT&T’s HSPA+ Network
The Samsung Galaxy S II may not be available from any US carriers, but those who have imported it are able to use it on AT&T's "4G" HSPA+ network. If you are using the Galaxy S II on AT&T however, there may be some hangups in its ability to work on their network, resulting in hampered data speeds. Well where there's an Android phone as awesome as the SGSII, there are devs to make it more awesome. XDA member locust43 has a fix to get your shiny European phone blazing along at full speed.

For a long while Motorola phones like the Droid2 and the Droid X were locked down pretty tight and unable to enjoy the wonderful things in Android like CM7. Recent breakthroughs have allowed CM7 to boot successfully on the Droid X and the latest news is the same magic will be going down for the Droid 2 and it will be officially merged into CyanogenMod soon.

In case you missed it HTC has been brewing what some have been calling a "Facebook Phone" and today HTC and AT&T have officially announced that it will indeed be headed to the U.S. cleverly named the HTC Status. We have some fun stuff over here for all your Droid Charge owners, it appears the Android 2.3 Gingerbread we saw leaked a few days ago is now live and available to download for all if you dare. This is an official leaked build of 2.3 Gingerbread for the Droid Charge and from what we are seeing everything works great, but there is reports of HDMI-out not working in this build.

Just a couple of days ago we let you know of the then-latest group to sign a deal with Microsoft for their patent licenses including their latest Android-carrying hardware. This company goes by the name General Dynamics Itronix and of the deal Horacio Gutierrez, corporate vice president and deputy general counsel of Intellectual Property and Licensing at Microsoft, said “[it] is an example of how industry leaders address intellectual property.” Smug indeed - next comes Velocity Micro.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been heavily talked about here and other places. This is one of the best tablets on the market and one of the best challengers to the iPad 2. The normal version of the Tab 10.1 with WiFi has been available to purchase for a while now. The tablet was a daily deal on eBay a while back with 32GB of storage for $529. If you have been holding out until a version of the Tab 10.1 hit with 4G inside you will love this.

Google Android Market reaches 4.5 billion downloads
Google has a wide and varied range of things it is involved with. The Android platform is one of the company's biggest successes with a huge part of the mobile market. Google is debuting a new service called Google Mobilize that has a goal of allowing business to make mobile website landing pages to promote their brands. Apparently, 28% of mobile users in the UK have used their phones to make a purchase in the past.
