Rumor: T-Mobile USA Might get an LG Android smartphone

You probably remember that LG has recently jumped into the Android bandwagon. Their first smartphone running on Google’s free mobile OS; the LG GW620 or Eve, which is supposed to make social networking even friendlier than anything else out there is already in Canada. LG has a second handset running Android, it is called LG GW880 Amundsen. But this LG Android-base phone is only available to China Mobile subscribers for the moment. So what do we get here in the US from LG that has Android? Well, nothing officially so far, but there's hope. According to TelecomsKorea, there was a research note by Prudential that talks about LG Electronics seeking an opportunity with T-Mobile USA in North America to sell LG Android smartphones. But for now, neither LG or T-Mobile are talking on this rumor, but is good to hear that there could be more Android phones coming to the US.

HTC Touch.B aka Rome, not Running Android After all?

Yesterday, MobiFrance posted leaked images of the HTC Touch.B or HTC Rome, which according to their info, was running Google's free mobile OS, Android. Today, the news are somewhat discouraging for those who like the idea of another Android phone from HTC coming out soon. The rumors were that this new HTC phone was going to be a HTC Touch 2 running Android instead of Windows Mobile. Now the rumors are different, saying that instead, the HTC Touch B smartphone will run the Brew Mobile Platform (Brew MP). Which is also a freely available mobile OS platform. So another free OS available to anyone who wants it. However, now that Android has picked up so much popularity, I doubt anyone is going to be interested on the BrewMP OS. So there you have it folks, it was exciting to think HTC was releasing a new Touch 2-like phone with the Android platform.

There's always something to improve, or something to gain, every time someone hacks into a device. It appears someone has done just that to the Archos 5 MID, to gain access to the Android Market to get Google Apps like GMail, Talk, Maps, and more. As many of you already know, the Archos 5 has its own app market, which goes by the name of AppsLib. We got news from sister site SlashGear on this hack to the Archos 5 in order to get the Google goodies we mentioned above, amongst other things. The good folks over at jkkmobile have posted a guide to install the Android Market onto the Archos 5 MID. So if you are feeling lucky, or want to get more juice out of your Archos 5, well, you already know what to do. But remember, that if you decide to do any hacking to any of your devices, you do so at your own risk.
